I gotta hunka hunka burning love bass guitar!

Elvis performed a song called hunka burning love that many bass guitar players are familiar with even if they're not Elvis fans due to the ultra cool bass line.

Before you get into playing the line to burning love, have a look at my lesson on the major pentatonic scale. This bass line confirms that learning this scale can lead to making great bass riffs.

This may not be the exact transcription it's just the way I think I played the line one night, after a performer I was backing up told the band at the last moment he was adding it to the show, as a kind of parody of Elvis.

As we had no sheet music I had to roughly figure out the line based on my memory of the song. As a professional player this is a very common occurrence.

This is what I remember playing...

You can't know every song in the world so coming up with something that fits based on your knowledge of theory, (in this case the major pentatonic scale) is crucial to becoming a professional musician.

I'm not a big fan of bass tabs but in this instance I've put both the tabs and the written bass line with which finger should be playing each note.

I've always played the song in the key of G, howerver Elvis usually did it in key of D.
To play along with Elvis it's the same fingering you just need to start on the A string instead of the D string. Good Luck!
